My baby girl turned 7 on 7/7.  A special birthday.  We took the birthday girl and some friends to Build-a-Bear today.  They all had fun.  Even Jared who was the only boy there.  If you have not experienced Build-a-Bear, you start by picking out a bear body, they have many to choose from.  Then they stuff the bear for you and you put in a heart.  Next is the fluffing station followed by dressing in a t-shirt and ribbons.  It was really fun.  They also have MANY too cute outfits one can buy for the bear, but that will wait for another day.  I think the kids look happy, don't you??

Whew, the back of Trellis is done.  The last few rows on the shoulders were kinda tough but I got through them.  I think it's looking pretty good so far.  Now on to the front.

The fuzzy is done.  This project seriously took on a life of it's own.  I seriously mis-calculated the yarn needed.  A child size sweater really should not need 7+ skeins of yarn!!  I made it with cap sleeves and got by with 5 skeins.  But I am now a believer in dye lots.  I ordered the last skein of yarn from an online vendor and I can see the difference in color, but I don't think DD does.  And at least both sleeves are the same color.  Besides needing more and more yarn, the neck started to unravel as I was sewing the pieces together.  It's kinda cute, it's just so thick.  It did not look this bulky in the picture.  DD likes it, but she was not sure she wanted to wear it to school.  LOL  Tell me what you think.....

My daughter's birthday sweater, affectionately known as "the fuzzy" is so close but yet so far from completion.  The pattern called for approx. 300 yards of eyelash.  I have now knit up nearly 400 yards but have not yet done the sleeves.  And to add insult to injury, my LYS is out of the Iris color.  Oy vey.  I considered turning it into a tank top, but my bud Lori came through for me and found some Iris eyelash online.  What a gal.  I ordered it today.  The sweater won't be done in time for the end of school, but I think I can still make it for her bday in 3 weeks.  I could not find an online pic of this pattern so I'll have to wait to put it on my live model and show you all.  emoticon

Also on the knitting front, I heard from my SP via blog comment today.  grin.  I have the beginnings of a June package for the one I'm spoiling but I have a few more things to add.  Fun stuff.

Hola Secret Pal!!

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?
I think there is a place or project for any kind of yarn.  Although I think Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino is YUMMY.

2. Do you spin? Crochet?
I used to crochet when I was a kid but I haven’t done it in years.  I was thinking of taking a crochet class to brush up since I hear it it much faster to crochet an afghan than to kint one.

3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)
I am deathly allergic to cats.  I’m also allergice to nuts and salmon.  And if we are talking about lotions or soaps and such, unscented it best.  I’m high maintenance in that area.  LOL

4. How long have you been knitting?
I started knitting three years ago when I took a knitting class with my SIL while she was pregnant.  I have not put the needles down since.  My husband’s mother and grandmother are serious knitters so they think it’s great.

5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
I think I have an amazon wish list but I need to update it.
J

6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
I like Vanilla, Rose and Cinnamon

7. Do you have a sweet tooth?
Guilty.  I’m partial to milk chocolate and things with cream centers.

8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?
I like to work in the garden but I detest weeding.  I have to be careful if I have pruners in my hand, I tend to get carried away.  LOL

9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
I can listen to most music but I really don’t care for rap.  I find myself listening to 80s music quite a bit, reliving my youth apparently.  My computer can play MP3, but I haven’t gotten an IPOD yet.

10. What's your favorite color? Or-do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?
I tend toward blues and purples.  I also like reds.  I’m not a big fan of browns and yellows.

11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
Married, two children (boy 9 and girl 6), and two finches who just laid eggs even without a nest.

12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)
Well, I would like my children to grow up to be decent human beings.  And I hope to have enough money to retire early and relax on the beach with knitting needles and a pitcher of margaritas.

13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?
I do love DB Baby Cashmerino.  I’ve only done 1 scarf with it though.

14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I don’t really like that baby yarn, I think it’s called snowflake?  I just has a funny feeling to me.

15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?
Yes.  Anything knitting related from books to blogs to classes to any excuse to go to the yarn store on Wednesday nights when they are open late.  LOL

16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
I have a lot of fun knitting Ann Norling fruit caps.  They go so fast and are always a big hit as a gift.  But I also like to do afghans, but one can only do so many of those.

17. What are you knitting right now?
I have a project area on the right side of my blog.  The socks are ongoing.  And I have two sweaters on the needles at the moment, but that’s about it.  My friend Lori think I need some more WIPs.

18. What do you think about ponchos?
I think they are cute on little girls, I made one for my daughter.  I don’t really have anything against them, but I don’t think I could wear one, just not really me.

19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?
I really like circular needles, I seem to keep dropping the straight needles.

20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
I am partial to bamboo.  But I have one pair of Addi Turbos and they are pretty nice too.

21. Are you a sock knitter?
I am.  I have made a few pairs.  I have a pair to take with me to the kids’ swim lessons.

22. How did you learn to knit?
            I took a class at a LYS.

23. How old is your oldest UFO?
I think I started the current pair of socks a year ago.  Until yesterday it was the Capri sweater – that has been around for a couple of years.  I just had a mental block going on there.

24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird?
I like sea otters.  Don’t ask my why, I have no idea, I just think they are so cute.

25. What is your favorite holiday?
Christmas I suppose.  I am not really into decorating for other holidays but we do put up window clings and such for Halloween and Thanksgiving.

26. Is there anything that you collect?
I collect Snow Babies by Studio 56.  I buy myself one each Christmas.  Someday I hope to fill the whole mantel with them.

27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
I have a subscription to Family Circle Easy Knitting.

28. Any books out there you are dying to get your hands on?

I am currently reading Debbie McComber’s The Shop on Blossom Street.  I would like to get her new book A Good Yarn next.  I am liking her writing and she is a local writer so she mentions things and places that I know about which is fun.

Hope you found the above helpful.
